The Placa, Dubrovnik
This is a view looking along the most famous street in Dubrovnic the Placa, from one end by the entrance to the harbour, to the far end by the main entrance known as Pile. This street was formed after the shallow sea that separated the settled island from the mainland was filled in between the 10th and 11th centuries
The high dome is the Cathedral, and the church to the right on the corner with the steps is St. Blaise Church. The tall statue behind the blue advertisement is Orlando's column, also featured on this website. At the far end of the street is the bell tower of the Franciscan Monastery, and the building behind the columns is the Sponza Palace. The dark arched exit just to the right, leads out into the old harbour.
