Minehead lies where Exmoor meets the sea on the north coast of Somerset, and is dominated by North Hill which can be seen for miles around. At the western end of the beach is this picturesque harbour built in 1610 and once a busy port for fishing, coal and wool.
The town is also the starting point of the South West Coastal Path, the nation's longest long-distance countryside walking trail, which runs right around the South West Coast to South Haven Point near Poole in Dorset.
