Situated at around 2100m on a ridge above McLeod Ganj in northern India, Galu Devi has a small temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva who lives in the Himalayas. The temple is just behind the red flag in the picture, and there is also a small cafe which does excellent omlettes and chai. Five paths meet here, including the trek to Triund and onwards over the 4350m Indrahar pass to the Ravi valley and Chamba. Photograph © D.Etherington
