The Engstligenalp
This is the largest plateau in the western Swiss Alps, measuring 7 square km and lying south of Adelboden. Surrounded by mountains there are numerous streams, which form the Engstligen falls cascading 600m down to the Engstligen Valley. Every June a spectacular event takes place when about 500 Simmental cattle are moved up the narrow man-made track beside the waterfalls, which is also the steepest cow track in Switzerland.
