The village of Passu lies on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) in the Hunza valley in northern Pakistan. It faces the Passu Cones, also known as Passu Cathedral, a spectacular group of peaks at around 6000m rising directly above the Hunza river which is at 2500m. The local language and culture is Wakhi, and a lot of the guest houses are typical of central Asian dwellings. As the crow flies Xinjiang is only 50km, Afghanistan 61km and Tajikistan 83km.
