On the road to Passu, Hunza
This was taken from a viewpoint on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) on the approach to the village of Passu in the Hunza valley. To the North can be seen the Passu Cones, also known as Passu Cathedral, a spectacular group of peaks at around 6000m rising directly above the village of Passu and the Hunza river which is at 2500m. To the West is the Passu glacier which arises below the peak of Passu Sar at 7478m. The Karakoram Highway continues north east for 124km to the Khunjerab pass at the border with Xinjiang - this is the highest paved international border crossing in the world. Photo © D.Etherington
