Until the 1840s the end of the Cobb was by the flag pole seen to the right of these old fishermen's cottages, and known as 'Crab Head'.
It was later extended further, forming what is now known as
Victoria Pier.
Between this pier and the main
Cobb as we know it today, is this little used harbour sometimes called Back Beach or Victoria Pool, and photographed here in December 2010 after a slight snowfall.
