Střelecký island lies in the Moldova River, or Vltava, which is the longest river in the Czech republic. It is accessible from the
Legion Bridge, or Most Legi, and from the tip of the island there is this excellent view of the famous Charles Bridge, or Karlův most most.
In June 2013 the bridge had to be closed following torrential rains when the river flooded
and completely submerged this island. Although not as bad as the disastrous floods of 2002,
much of the
underground metro system was also flooded and had to be shut down.
