From the riverside at Dartmouth you can catch many of the local excursions up the River Dart towards Totnes. There are also regular ferries across the river to Kingswear seen here behind the ferry boat, from where you can take a vintage steam train on the Dart Valley Railway to the seaside town of Paington. The ferry comprises a tug and vehicle-carrying float that is towed alongside and guided by a wire cable.
