Exeter Cathedral Square
A favourite spot in Exeter to sit and enjoy a drink while watching the world go by. The black and white building with the purple shutters is the once famous 'Mol's Coffee House' with a crest dated 1596. The large white building to the left of 'Mol's' is the Royal Clarence Hotel, built in 1770 on the site of Sir Walter Raleigh's family town house, and is said to be the first hostelry in England to be known as a hotel. Sadly the hotel was completely destroyed by a massive fire on 28th October 2016 and restoration is currently due for completion in 2025.
